believe [selfreflexion]

.
the walls of a city
in the background

a walkway leading
to a scene where the sky is green

a reflection found in an artist’s mirror

abstract pictures of people
without faces

colors
immersed
between beams of light
filtering
shadows of purple
radiance

a procession of monks
walking
beyond a row of decorated pillars

watching the red sands of the desert
crashing against the black horizon

a symbol of life suspended at the edge of the dream

the eye of our awakening
looking
over the throne
of the muse

a figure of a man turned to stone

here
is where the statue of death
lies
standing
in the garden of the Lotus

the picture
of what might have been
had we
chosen to believe

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

~ William Butler Yeats ~
