changing habits
During Nereida's first period of independence at the age between five and six weeks, we also changed our nightly sleeping habits: the little bawn in the background of the bottom picture became the goat kid's new doss. Yet the first two nights were heartbreakingly difficult... Nereida, accustomed to sleep at my side, cried incessantly, and of course I hardly could find some sleep, too... Though, the following nights were easier, and after a week I let the door to the bawn open, so that Nereida could choose her own doss in the great outdoors among her fellows.

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
~ William Butler Yeats ~
